No contest, an image is worth at least a thousand words. That's because the oldest part of our brains (the core operating system) think in pictures, not words. Images are bundles of actionable information. They help our brains to connect with what's going on in our world and to decide what to do about it. That's why abstractions like words and numbers gain much greater impact when linked with images. In visual media such as video, PowerPoint or billboards, it's more effective to let images do the heavy lifting.
